| May | 3rd to the 7th: The May fair in Torrevieja is held in the
Port Area. Torrevieja enjoys a week of festivities in the purest Andalusian style, with "casetas" (booths) set up in the harbour precincts, where a large gatherings of people in traditional Andalusian costume dance the famous "Sevillanas". The atmosphere is completed by processions on horseback, carriages and the tasting of fine Andalusian wines. In addition, the Association of the Virgen del Rocío organizes a "Romería" (Pilgrimage) in Honour of the Virgen del Rocío on the last Saturday and Sunday of May, with a pilgrims' mass held in the open air, and the celebrated "race of the ribbons" for horsemen. During the first fortnight of May, the Queen of the Fire is proclaimed, and in May/June the Coronation of the Queen of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. |

| June | 3rd and 4th: This year the Spanish Air Force intends to
organise the best air show ever in the history of the country.
Murcia will be the venue for the event and, more precisely, San
Javier AB, home base of Patrulla Aguila, expects to welcome
aircraft from fourteen different countries. On the 3rd of June the
San Javier air base will host a Media & Spottersday, more
information about these can be found on the
official website. Pilgrimage in honour of the Virgen de Rocio Festival of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Exact date to be confirmed: Saint John's Bonfires, the sacred heart festivities 22nd June to 2nd July: The America's Cup has started its build up with a Match Race over this period in Valencia. Full details of the events, dates and progress can be seen on the official website. Please be aware that accommodation is becoming very scare for this event so an early booking is advisable. This is particularly true for the 2007 sessions (see below) |

Election of the queen of the salt, Habanera songs on the beach. 16th: Jule Viegen de Carmen Exact date to be confirmed: International Contest of Habanera songs and choirs, continued, sometimes into August. Virgen del Carmen. The song known as 'Habanera' was brought to Spain via Torrevieja in the 19th century from Cuba. Each year at the beginning of July a singing contest by the sea is organised featuring Caribbean music. It has been declared as of International Tourist Interest! Verbena de la Sal (Street Dancing) |
